Vote for Community Council

It that time again when we have the opportunity to actually go to a poll to vote! The election for members of the Community Council will be held on election day, Nov. 8, at the grange. The poll will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Only in a small town like Trout Lake can one go out and experience the pleasure of actually casting a vote at a polling place in this day and age of vote by mail. Gail Phares and Daina Bambe, who were appointed to fill vacated positions, are running for election to these positions. Sadly, Frank Childs, who has been an active and important member of the Community Council for years, is not running for reelection. His presence will be missed and likewise his knowledge of the business of the council and the area. We are sorry to see him go. His departure leaves an open position. The council is seeking someone to fill this position. If you want to serve on the council or want to nominate someone to serve, please contact the council president, Tim Webster, at

A fundraising campaign to raise the money to construct a track on the grounds of the school has been underway for a while but more money is needed. So, there will be a Casino Night fundraising event at the Trout Lake Grange on Friday, Oct. 14 from 7-10 p.m. The event includes appetizers, dessert, drink coupons for wine, beer, or soda, and plenty of game chips to have fun at the casino-style games. Free childcare will be provided at the school. There are some really nice items donated to the silent auction, so come outbid your neighbor while helping to support a cause! The school is hoping to start construction of the Track in summer 2017. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $30 at the school office, Little Mtn. Hardware, or for $40 at the Grange on the day of the event. For more information, contact Camden McMahon at 395-2617.

And remember that the Senior Dinner will be held on Oct. 13 at the school. The gathering begins at 4 p.m. with food served at 5 p.m. Hope to see you there despite the short notice.
