Geologic wonders program coming


oin Steve Carlson for an informative program about the underlying geologic wonders of volcanic National Parks, Friday, Nov. 4. A pork tenderloin dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by the 7 p.m. program at Columbia Gorge Discover Center & Museum, 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles.

Explore the National Parks created through volcanic events, including Crater Lake, Lassen, and Mt. Rainier. Learn about the astonishing beauty of the geyser wonderland of Yellowstone, which gave birth to the radical idea of creating national parks for everyone’s enjoyment. Understand the geologic processes creating each National Park and the importance of protecting these national treasures.

Steve Carlson is a Northwest native and a retired professor of geology noted for his engaging enthusiasm for his topic.
