A Democrat for a Republican

If you are looking for the Democratic candidate running for Washington State Treasurer you won’t find one. Our state has a top-two primary which resulted in two Republicans for the November ballot. As a Democrat, I’m supporting Republican Duane Davidson because he is the most qualified.

Elected in 2003, Benton County Treasurer Davidson has been endorsed by every Democratic and county treasurer in the state. He has also been endorsed by the Washington Retired Public Employees Council for his work to protect the hard-earned pensions of retirees.

Davidson promises to tackle reducing student-loan debt across the state. We look forward to him fulfilling this promise.

Opponent Michael Waite is a Wall Street banker has no government experience, is highly partisan, and regularly spouts Tea Party rhetoric about debt and government that is unfit for the office of state treasurer.

Waite has greatly overemphasized the size and “danger” of state pension debts, ignoring the fact that our pension system is actually quite healthy in Washington. What does he have in mind?

Vote for Davidson.
