Solve the digital divide

Klickitat County has a multimillion dollar project fiber optic trunk line paid for with federal economic recovery monies. This trunk line runs from Vancouver to Goldendale. It has exactly one residential customer.

The reason? It has no access to the homes along its length for rural customers. No internet service providers were willing to use it to bring service to residential customers.

I would like to know what County Commissioner Rex Johnston and KPUD Commissioner Ray Mosbrucker have actually done to help close the digital divide in our county and get the resources needed to access this valuable resource. Perhaps candidates for the KPUD Doug Miller and for County Commissioner Pat Arnold can pledge to get it done?
