Early returns for county

 


In Klickitat County returns at 8:13 p.m. last night, the major surprise was the upset victory by Doug Miller over incumbent Ray Mosbrucker for KPUD Commissioner Pos.2. Miller received 2,734 votes to Mosbrucker’s 2,107 votes for 56.5 percent of the vote.

On the state level, Republican Bill Bryant won the county with 57 percent of the vote to Jay Inslee’s 43 percent—and state-wide Bryant was also on track to win the governor’s office with 50.7 percent of the vote against Inslee’s 49.3 percent as of 8:39 p.m.

Rex Johnston won re-election as county commissioner for Pos. 1 over opponent Pat Arnold. Johnston received 2,999 votes for 54.8 percent of the vote against Arnold’s 2,478 votes and 45.2 percent.

Rep. Gina McCabe handily won re-election in Pos. 2 for Legislative District 14 with 66.2 percent of the vote (3,611 votes) against Eric Adams 33.8 percent and 1,847 votes. District-wide McCabe is the clear winner with 68.3 percent of the total vote to Adams’ 31.7 percent.

In Pos. 1 in the 14th District, Rep. Norm Johnson took 3,403 votes (62.3 percent) to Susan Palmer’s 2,061 votes (37.7 percent). District-wide Johnson wins with 66 percent to Palmer’s 34 percent.

In the Senate race, Sen. Curtis King took 53.9 percent to a surprisingly strong turnout for Amanda Richards with 46.05 percent. District-wide King wins by 61.8 percent to Richards’ 38.2 percent.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler won easily in the county (61.3 percent to 38.7 percent for Jim Moeller) and in the 3rd Congressional District with 58.8 percent to Moeller’s 41.1 percent.
