John Wesley (Wes) Loftin

 


John Wesley (Wes) Loftin was born on May 29, 1939, in The Dalles, Oregon to John Wesley Loftin and Delores Elizabeth West. Wes passed on Nov. 26, 2016 in his home with his family by his side.

Wes graduated from Goldendale High School in 1957. Wes was drafted by the United States Army where he served his country in the DMZ in Korea. After returning home, Wes worked for various business’ including Godby Cement, Stiff Chevrolet, Goldendale Aluminum Plant, Dobravsky Logging, before he retired after 20 years of service as the Transportation Director for the Goldendale School District.

Wes served his community as a member of the Goldendale Fire Department from 1969 to 1986, and was fire chief for 17 years, while serving 14 years on the Emergency Rescue Team for Klickitat County (before it became the Klickitat County Search and Rescue). He was also a member of the American Legion Post #116 for 49 years, a member of the Goldendale Masonic Lodge No. 31 and a member of the Goldendale Jaycees. Wes received numerous awards for his years of service to the Klickitat County community.

Wes enjoyed snowmobiling, racing cars, fishing and he loved Corvettes, but most of all he loved spending time with his family camping and waterskiing.

Wes is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 35 years, Marlis Loftin. He is survived by his sister Lana (Lee) Younglove of Portland, Oregon, daughters Tracy (Gary) Hoctor of Goldendale, Theresa (Jeff) Vague of Kremmling, Colorado, Michelle Robinson of Kirkland, Washington, son Mike Robinson (Karen) of Stockton, California, Mike (Rachel) Moore of North Dakota, grandsons Wesley Cuff, Jeff (Tami) Vague of Granby, Colorado and Cody Vague of Kremmling, Colorado and one great granddaughter, Trinleigh Vague.

Per Wes’ request there will be no memorial service. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the Klickitat County Home Health and Hospice.
