Goldendale boys start strong in league play with wins over Highland, Cle Elum


In the first week of South Central Athletic Conference play, the Goldendale boys hoops team already has doubled its league win total from last year.

Last Tuesday, the Timberwolves (2-4 overall, 2-1 SCAC West as of Monday night) cruised to a 75-37 win over Highland and knocked off Cle Elum 63-55 on Friday before falling 55-47 to La Salle on Saturday to open league play 2-1.

When Goldendale third year head coach Ted Wilkins first saw the hoops schedule earlier this season, he knew his team had the chance to start with a bang in SCAC West play.

“When I saw that we played Highland and Cle Elum I figured those are two teams that we should beat,” Wilkins said after Monday’s practice. ...
