Remembering Kathleen Kreps Ohnemus

We hope everyone had a joyous, safe Christmas. Safe travels to everyone who will be on the road during the holiday season. We also want to wish our readers a very Happy New Year. Please be safe as you welcome in 2017. Our community is very saddened to hear of the passing of Kathleen Kreps Ohnemus. Kathleen grew up on the OK Ranch in Laurel with her parents and sisters and graduated from Glenwood High School. She continued to live in Laurel for many decades, until her worsening health

required that she live where she could receive needed medical care. She served as postmaster at Laurel for a time, following in the footsteps of her aunts Amy Patton and Jayne Kreps, until that post office was discontinued. She then worked for many years in the medical records department at Skyline Hospital before retiring. She will be greatly missed by her children, Clayton, Jerome, Justin, and Mary and their families, and by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jerry Throop and their family. Kathleen was a quiet, kind, gentle woman who was a friend to so many. Our deepest condolences go to Kathleen’s family. Glenwood Women’s Club will be hosting bingo on Friday, January 6th. We’re hoping for a good turnout to keep the bingo tradition going. Bingo starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Grange hall. Refreshments will be provided. Come on out and bring your family and friends for a fun evening. The high school basketball players have been practicing hard all Christmas break, in preparation for a basketball tournament in Helix, Oregon, on Dec. 28 and 29. The Klickitat-Glenwood boys’ varsity and junior varsity and girls’ varsity teams will be playing. For more information on playing times, contact Toni at the school office, (509)364-3438. Good luck, Vandals/Eagles!
