Bickleton loses Dorothy Marvel


Dorothy Seely Marvel passed away at age 97 at her home in Eagle Creek, Oregon. She was born July 9 1919 at the Six P. Ranch in Six Prong. She and her siblings attended schools at the Kuhn School, Juniper Canyon, and she graduated from Alderdale High School.

Dorothy and “Bus,” Robert C. Marvel, were married in Goldendale, September 13, 1937.

After World War II she and Bus purchased the old Campbell Place out east of Bickleton near the County Line, tore it down and built a store in Bickleton which is now the Bickleton Market Street Cafe. They sold the store to Vern and Irma Looney and eventually retired to a small acreage at Eagle Creek, Oregon which they enjoyed.

She is survived by 2 children Gary Marvel of Eagle Creek and his sister Roberta Courtain of Madras, Oregon, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren all of Oregon. Also survived by a sister Leona Clark of Bickleton and brother Darrell Seely of Kennewick.

She was preceded in death by her husband “Bus” in 2003, parents Carl and Tressa (Wilson) Seely, a baby sister Kathryn Luanna and a brother Harold Seely in 1992.

Burial will be later in Six Prong in eastern Klickitat County.
