Family comes to Goldendale for their baby to be born

NEW YEAR'S BABY: The Curtsinger family gathers around newborn Vash. In the back row at left is Lorri Carr, the Goldendale midwife who helped bring Vash into the world. The Curtsingers drove more than 100 miles to have Carr deliver their baby.

Vash La-Stampede Curtsinger came into this world on Jan. 1, 2017 at 10:07 p.m. Named after the hero of the Trigun anime series, Vash was born to TJ and Jessica Curtsinger, by candlelight, in the back of their camper.

The Curtsingers had been living outside Heppner, Oregon, but with Vash's arrival looming, they loaded up the camper and drove over 100 miles to Goldendale, where they have been living the past two months. Why? So their son could be delivered by Lori Carr of Highland Midwife Birth Services. Lorri delivered the couple's previous son, Mozzie. After that they were hooked.
