Lyle-Wishram girls drop heartbreaker to Trout Lake

 


The Lyle-Wishram Cougars girls hoops team staged a furious comeback bid in the fourth quarter at home on Saturday against Trout Lake, but fell just short, falling 35-32 to the Mustangs.

Trailing 31-19 entering the fourth quarter, senior guard Alex Cloud knocked down three 3-pointers in the quarter and the Lyle-Wishram defense surrendered just four points to the Mustangs but couldn’t squeak out the win.

Lyle-Wishram head coach Vernon Letourneau said his team was tough defensively in the opening half and the fourth quarter while they held the Mustangs to single digits in the first, second and fourth periods, but a 14-3 Trout Lake run in the third was too much to overcome.
