Norma Nichols


Norma Joice Nichols, 76, passed away in The Dalles, Oregon on January 12, 2017. She was born in Sisters, Oregon on March 3, 1940 to Vera (Martin) and Aubrey “Pete” Brundridge. When Norma was 10 years old, the family moved to White Swan, Washington. She graduated from White Swan High School in 1958 and m a r r i e d Wayne Burgin in 1959. They spent four years in Bickleton and four years in Goldendale working as ranch hands before moving to Kelso in 1969. Norma later married Ray Nichols and they were together until his death. Norma was a huge Seahawks fan. She loved horses and competed in rodeos in her younger days and later followed her sons,

and granddaughters down the rodeo trail. Norma was a very artistic woman who knitted, painted and played the steel guitar, guitar and banjo. Mrs. Nichols is survived by her son Bryon “Oop” Burgin and his wife Diane of Glenwood; brother Roger Brundridge of The Dalles; granddaughters Amy Roggenkamp and her husband Shaun and LeeAnn Burgin and her companion Jake Garcia; special companion of 10 years Gordon Macleod; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Norman Burgin in 1980. Memorial services will be held at the Glenwood School, March 4, 2017, 1:30 pm. Please visit to send condolences to the family
