Vandals hold off late rally to edge Cougars

What started as a first quarter blowout between host Lyle-Wishram and Klickitat-Glenwood turned into a fourth quarter barn burner as the Cougars stormed back from a 16-4 opening quarter deficit but couldn't hang on in the final seconds of Saturday's 45-43 nonleague contest.

Trailing by as many as 16 points early in the second quarter, the Cougars staged a furious rally and got within one point of the Vandals late in the fourth, but couldn't come out on top after several chances to tie or take the lead in the closing minute.

The Vandals, who saw their nine point fourth quarter lead evaporate in a matter of minutes, weren't helping their cause after missing some shots and giving the ball...
