Ready to wax on, wax off?


Karate is coming to Goldendale. Well, make that Taekwondo.

“People recognize ‘Karate,’” says Levi Winston, soon-to-be instructor at “Winston’s School of Karate and Self-defense.” Winston, a third-degree blackbelt in Song Moo Kwan taekwondo, says the discipline is also heavily influenced by Shotokan Karate.

Winston has been teaching for seven years, training for about 20. After moving to Goldendale in 2015, he became aware of a need for group activities, especially for children.

The school will offer children’s classes for three age groups: six to eight, nine to 11, and 12 and up. Winston also plans to offer a women’s self-defense course once a month.
