Goldendale basketball senior night spoiled by Spartans

First half offensive struggles doom Timberwolves

After dropping a heartbreaker to the Naches Rangers on Jan. 28, a crushing blow that hurt Goldendale's postseason chances, there was still a small chance they would be able to tie with the Rangers and force a district play-in game.

However, the Rangers eliminated the possibility with their 73-48 win over Cle Elum on Jan. 31. The Timberwolves needed the Rangers to lose against the Warriors and needed to beat the Granger Spartans on Friday to finish in a tie with the Rangers for fourth place in the South Central Athletic Conference West standings.

It didn't matter whether Naches won or lost against the Warriors, because the Spartans were able to take advantage of a sluggish Goldendale off...
