Local author publishes first novel

AKING BOOK: Goldendale resident Bonnie Barrigar holds a copy of her newly published novel Dollmaker.

On Monday, Golden Chinook Café held a book-signing for Dollmaker, the first novel of local writer Bonnie Barrigar. Barrigar has been writing since she was eight years old. She credits Horatio Alger, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allen Poe as early influences.

Her first novel, about a Vietnamese heroine who leads a paramilitary force to end the Vietnam War, was inspired by impressions the conflict made on Barrigar as a young child.
