Utha (Reah) Hayden

Utha Hayden passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning Feb. 8, 2017 at her home in Goldendale.

She was interred at Frank Abel Cemetery, Woodland, Washington, on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.

She was born at home in Pondfork, Ozark County, Missouri, to her parents Jess and Mary (Absher) Simpson as their 12th of 13 children.

In her younger years in Missouri, she was raised on a farm. In 1946, some of the family traveled to the Pacific Northwest to work in the booming lumber industry and then sent for the rest of the family.

Utha met her first husband Charles (Bill) Frisk and they were married in 1952. They settled in Ridgefield, Washington to raise their three daughters. Sadly, she was widowed in 1975.

Utha then met and married Edward (Eddie) Hayden in 1978. They moved her home in 1980 to their property in Goldendale. They enjoyed working on their home and property turning it into their place of solace. They loved to garden and travel around the United States, and made multiple trips to Missouri to visit her family that did not make the move out west. Sadly, she was widowed again in 2011.

She was a great homemaker, always had a spotless house, and loved crocheting and sewing quilts and dresses for her children and grandchildren when they were young. She also enjoyed staying at the beach, watching the waves for hours. She absolutely loved watching all the wildlife of many types—birds, deer and turkey—from her favorite chair. She truly enjoyed calling in and feeding the turkeys. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with all her family.

Utha is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Frisk, Wanda Miller, and Janice Frisk (Scott Still); four granddaughters, Melanie (Bill) Panther, Marcie (Tony) Brockie, Jennifer (Felix) Dolan, and Chrystal Miller (Jonathon Smith); seven great grandchildren, Anthony, Thomas, Aiyana, Jasmine, Kaeden, Ali, and Daisy; two sisters, Lorene Hayes and Clella Record; multiple nieces and nephews; and two stepdaughters of her husband Eddie: Dawn Hayden Lippard and Donna (Shelly) Hayden Spires.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Mary (Absher) Simpson; sisters Goldie Hart, Shirley Goodnight, Irene Humbyrd and Bertha Kilkelly; brothers Basil, Cleo and Leon Simpson; three young siblings, Cecil, Finley and Ola; and two husbands, Charles (Bill) Frisk and Edward (Eddie) Hayden.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers please send a donation in Utha Hayden’s name to Klickitat Valley Health Hospice, 711 E Collins, Goldendale, WA 98620.
