Cougs fall in EWAC play-in contest

First-year head coach Josh Padgett and the Lyle-Wishram Cougars spent nearly all of last week waiting to see who they would play against for the No. 4 seed of the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference.

They would play either White Swan or Tri-Cities Prep, depending on the outcome of the White Swan/DeSales matchup that was postponed because of bad weather. That game was finally played Friday night, and the Cougs found out they would be playing the Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars for a shot at reaching the EWAC district playoffs.

However, the Cougars had a hard time dealing with one of the top scorers in the state in Trent Mercado, and fell to the Jaguars 69-48. Mercado scored a game-high 25 poi...
