Animal shelter building never inspected?


On Feb. 13 and 15, members of the Animal Care Special Task Force met to discuss improvements to the city animal shelter. The task force, comprised of city and county officials, Dogs of the Gorge volunteers and concerned citizens, formed in response to recent city council meetings highlighting issues with the shelter and a corresponding need for county-wide animal control.

The Feb. 13 meeting began with a troubling revelation: according to City Building Inspector Ken Bostick, the shelter wasn’t built completely to plan and appears never to have been inspected. Bostick cited the original permit application, dated May 12, 1992.
