Spring sports start this weekend, but weather still disagreeing

INFIELD "DIRT": The view from behind the fence at the Goldendale High School softball field doesn't look promising for Saturday's scheduled season opener.

Spring sports kick off this weekend for local baseball, softball and track and field teams and hopefully the weather decides what it wants to do by this weekend.

The baseball and softball fields here in Goldendale were cleared of snow last weekend, but snowfall Monday night and Tuesday morning and a steady shower of rain all day Tuesday put a damper on the fields which should be ready for Saturday's season-opening doubleheader against the Royal Knights.

The baseball team was set to practice outside for the first time this season on Tuesday, however those plans were changed after the constant rainfall all day Tuesday.
