Goldendale baseball wins, tennis falls in season openers

It didn’t take long for the Goldendale baseball team to pick up its first win this season.

Starter Justin Wells and relievers Josh Ortiz and Mitchell Bain combined to allow six hits as the Timberwolves held off the River View Panthers 5-3 on the road Tuesday in five innings.

Wells allowed three runs in his three innings of work before Ortiz and Bane closed the door in the fourth and fifth innings respectively.

Backstop Joseph Randle hit 2 for 4 and scored a run, Alex Mains drove in two runs with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate and Bane singled in his only at bat while also drawing three walks.
