Girls fall, boys split with La Salle

FOREHAND RETURN: Goldendale's Kelli Bighorn returns a shot to La Salle on Thursday in Goldendale.

Before the South Central Athletic Conference baseball power visited Goldendale on Saturday, one of the league's best tennis teams was in town last Thursday taking on the Timberwolves.

The La Salle Lightning, loaded with state championship experience on both the boys and girls side, have been one of the top teams in the SCAC since making the jump to the Class 1A ranks in fall 2010.

Six players on this year's Lightning team participated in the state meet last year in Yakima, but that didn't stop the Timberwolves from pushing them to the limit.
