Sun sets on county cannabis

Monday night, the Klickitat County Planning Commission made its final recommendation: repeal the sunset clause and place a permanent ban on new marijuana businesses and expansions.

The so-called sunset clause is a provision of a 2015 ordinance that prohibits new marijuana producers, processors, and retailers from setting up shop in Klickitat County, and prohibits the expansion of previously established businesses. The ordinance was intended as a temporary fix to give the commission more time for assessing impacts of marijuana business.
