4H county archery shoot this weekend, state at Brooks Park

ON TARGET: A group of young archers line up their shots out at Bill Campbell's house at 1925 E Collins, the spot of Sunday's Klickitat County 4H Archery County Shoot.

The Klickitat County 4H Archery County Shoot returns this weekend where participants will be competing for a chance to qualify for the state shoot which will be held for the first time ever at Brooks Park.

The county shoot kicks off Saturday in Box Canyon and continues Sunday at 1925 E Collins, the home of club president Bill Campbell, where the public is invited to attend. Shooting each day starts at 9 a.m. and is expected to wrap up around noon Sunday with a trophy presentation following.

According to Campbell, most of the 4H clubs 40 kids from ages 8-18 will be participating in the shoot for a chance to qualify for the state competition.

The state shoot comes to Goldendale for the first time a few weeks later on May 6 and 7 at Brooks Park and Campbell is expecting anywhere from 50-100 kids to compete.
