Luke Gerchak makes cut, Andrew just misses at state


It was a tough opening day at the Class 1A boys state golf meet for Goldendale senior Andrew Gerchak.

Goldendale’s top golfer recorded an 18-hole total of 86, missing the cut for day two of the tournament by just one stroke.

However, Luke Gerchak was able to advance to the second day of the tournament with a strong finish over his last five holes, finishing with an 80.

The weather was hot, according to head coach Ted Wilkins, with little wind and temperatures ranging from 85-90 degrees at the Sun Willows Gold Course in Pasco. It was a complete 360 from the rainy and windy conditions at the South Central Athletic Conference District competition in Toppenish, where Andrew finished second...
