Bob Browning


Robert Leroy Browning was born September 11, 1934 in Battle Ground, Washington to Fred and Eva Charlotte (Roderick) Browning.

He married Netty Louise Rescorla in Granger, Washington on January2, 1955. Throughout his life, Bob worked as a logger, diesel mechanic and beekeeper. He also owned Browning’s Fire Extinguisher Service and a shoe repair shop. Along with wife, Netty, they owned a business doing custom screen printing and embroidery.

Mr. Browning was very devoted to his volunteer work and was a member of the Fire Department in Central Point, Oregon. After moving to Goldendale in 1979, he became a longtime volunteer with Rural 7 Fire and Rescue.

Bob passed away at his home in Goldendale on May 23, 2017 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Netty Browning; daughters Lauretta DeShane of Roseburg, Oregon and Deborah Browning of Goldendale; grandchildren Chris DeShane of Medford, Oregon and Alison Johnson of La Center, Washington; great grandchildren MaryJane, Emily and Kylee of La Center and Damian of Medford; sisters Ethel Wall of Denver, Colorado and Violet Woodruff of Wahkiacus; brothers Francis Browning of Spray, Oregon, Keith Browning of Stinnett, Texas and Lawrence Browning of Goldendale; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Grace Woodruff, James Browning and Alice Woodruff.

A memorial service for Mr. Browning will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Goldendale Adventist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Rural 7 fire and Rescue. To send condolences to the Browning family, please visit
