Both doubles teams pick up a win at state, just short of placing

TENNIS TEAMWORK: Senior Edgar Vega returns the ball in an early season match in Goldendale.

Both Goldendale tennis teams were able to pick up a win over the weekend at the State Tennis Doubles Championships, marking the final matches of one exciting boys team while leaving the girls team excited about the upcoming seasons.

The run of seniors Ignacio Cano and Edgar Vega finally ended at the state meet with three hard-fought exciting matches in Yakima after a brilliant regular season.

The No. 1 doubles team lost its opening match and won the second before being eliminated on Saturday during the second day of the tournament.

"They played really well," Bighorn said. "All three matches were exciting."

Exciting might be an understatement in describing Cano and Vega's opening round...
