Gannon, Harvey lead Pirates

Junior Kira Harvey and sophomore Michael Gannon each placed in a pair of events to lead the Bickleton Pirates at the state track meet over the weekend in Cheney.

The lone Pirate girl competing, Harvey accounted for 7.5 team points on her own, which was more than 13 other teams combined to score.

Making her third straight trip to the state meet in the pole vault, Harvey didn't miss on any of her attempts until the bar was set at 8 feet, 6 inches, where she couldn't get over the hump on three attempts. She finished the event in a tie for fifth place with Naselle's Sophie Scrabeck at eight feet and scored 3.5 team points for the Pirates.
