Green, Larson place for Vandals at state track meet

F R E S H TECHNIQUE: Klickitat freshman Savannah Green gets a running start and prepares to launch the javelin on Saturday at the state track meet in Cheney.

Freshman Savannah Green, the lone competitor on the female side for the Klickitat Vandals at last weekend's WIAA Track and Field State Championship Meet in Cheney, fired a personal-best throw in the javelin on Saturday to sneak onto the podium with an eighth place finish.

Green, with a PR throw of 106 feet, 10 inches, earned a team point for the Vandals and missed out on seventh place in the event by just two inches.

For the Vandal boys, sophomore Jeremiah Larson also set a personal record over the weekend that got him onto the podium at Eastern Washington University.

He ran the 110 hurdles faster than he ever has in 17.32 seconds in the preliminaries, and later ran the event in 17.99...
