Montoya wins tow events, second in 100

After dominating the competition all season long, Lyle-Wishram freshman phenom Brandon Montoya finally found a competitor that could keep up with him in the 100 and 200 meter runs.

In 22 combined 100 and 200 races this season, Montoya had only finished in first place, but finally met his match at the WIAA Track and Field State Championships at Eastern Washington University.

Entering all three of his events (100, 200, long jump) with the top qualifying marks, Montoya left little doubt on Friday as he garnered state champion honors in the long jump with a 22 feet, 2.25 inch jump that was over half a foot further than the second place finisher.
