State's oldest rodeo returns to Cleveland


The oldest rodeo in Washington is back again this year with three days of fun set to kick off this weekend at the Cleveland Park about four miles west of Bickleton.

The 107th annual Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic and Rodeo opens Friday at 5 p.m. for a fun-filled weekend of dancing, carousel rides, good food and a Northwest Professional Rodeo Association sanctioned rodeo on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

The event starts Friday afternoon with food and fun, including free carousal rides on a 1905 Herschell-Spillman Carousal, just one of three working models of its kind.

Later Friday evening, there will be a free kick-off dance celebration for all ages with live music from Seattle country mus...
