Goldendale girls compete in Orlando



Doing Well: Four GHS students competed at the Technology Student Association National Conference

Emma Olson, Thea Smith, Jade Smith, and Nadia Smith traveled to Orlando, along with TSA advisor Matt Merfeld, to compete at the Technology Student Association National Conference. They were competing in VEX Robotics, Catapult, Architectural Design, Career Preparation, Essays on Technology and Extemporaneous Speech.

Emma and Thea were finalists in Catapult, ending up ninth out of about 100 teams. The two girls built a PVC catapult that had to be adjustable to shoot anywhere from 15-30 feet. At the competition, they had a five-minute period to adjust for the distance, and then a one-minute period to shoot as many balls as possible into a target.
