Goldendale Grinders split doubleheader in Vancouver

The Goldendale Grinders summer baseball team only had nine players throughout last Friday's road doubleheader against Southwest Metro across the river in Portland, but those nine players sure came to play.

The Grinders split with Metro, winning the opener 11-7 before falling in the nightcap 15-10 in five innings due to the lateness of the game.

After having some tough luck at the plate during their home openers the previous week against Yakima, the Grinders bats were rolling on Friday, combining for 24 hits in the twinbill.

Every single Grinder recorded a hit in the opener, giving enough of a cushion for starting pitcher Justin Wells and Jacob Bischoff, who came on in relief.
