Get out the Dems

Since January I’ve been Chair of the Klickitat County Democrats, and I’ve heard that “lefty” newcomers to Goldendale have a hard time meeting like-minded people—a sentiment echoed by Goldendale Democrats. And it’s not even limited to newcomers.

The good news is, Klickitat County has a local Democrat Party that is listening and is working to build our presence across our beautiful county. We’ve introduced “Drinking Democratically,” a social event on the second Thursdays of the month. The next one is July 13 at Everybody’s Brewing in White Salmon at 6:30 p.m., but we’re planning one in Goldendale at Hometown Pizza on Sept. 14 starting at 5 p.m. I invite all Goldendale Lefties, Independents, even Moderate Republicans who are starting to agree with the Democrat party to join us. You know the most effective ways to convince Goldendale to elect more progressive candidates who represent all of our best interests.

According to the Klickitat County Auditor’s website, Klickitat County was nudged Blue in the 2008 presidential election. Barack Obama won our county by 21 votes.

If Democrats can get out the vote, focus on the issues, listen, and be clear about what the Democrat platform will do for every American, from economic equality to a dignified retirement and so much more, we can do more than nudge Klickitat County blue, and we will all better off. Feel free to contact us anytime I can’t wait to meet you all!
