Goldendale Community Suicide Awareness/Prevention Coalition

August 2, 2017

Recent events in the community have brought together a group of individuals over the past few months to discuss ways to increase suicide awareness and efforts for suicide prevention.

“Some of us have lost dear ones,” the group stated in a recent press release, “and all of us have a deep love for the place we call home. One of our goals it to bring awareness to and decrease the stigma of mental health challenges so those suffering will find the courage to seek help. “

The group says it wants to continue this discussion and invites input from people of all ages. Scheduled meetings are to be held on the third Thursday of every month at Klickitat Valley Hospital (KVH) in the Board Room at 5:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Aug. 17.

The group’s first event is a casual community gathering in early August. “Please come to share your ideas, questions, concerns, and support for the coalition,” the group says. There will be a short presentation and discussion. It will be held Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Camplan Room at the Goldendale Public Library.
