The Wall is here

The Wall that Heals—a travelling half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial—has arrived in Goldendale and will be on display at the Klickitat County Fairgrounds from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3. Admission is free, and the Wall will be accessible for viewing 24-hours a day.

The Mobile Education Center accompanying The Wall will be displaying photos of service members whose names are on The Wall and other Vietnam War memorabilia.

The museum shows a map of Vietnam and a chronological overview of the conflict giving a historical and cultural context of the war and how it relates to the American experience.

Opening ceremonies will start at 2 p.m. on Aug. 31 with the Washington State Army Reserves Honor Guard, Taps by George Minor, and a keynote speaker from the Washington State Grand Masonic Lodge will be part of the opening ceremonies.

Closing ceremonies will be held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 3 and The Wall will be closed to viewing at that time.
