STUDENTS OF THE MONTH: From top down: fifth-, and eighth-grade students named this month's Goldendale Middle School Students of the Month. See story for names.

Goldendale Middle School (GDMS) honored their students and teachers for the month of September in an assembly ceremony for those students and staff who displayed the strongest character traits of responsibility.

Duty, accountability, self-restraint, and pursuit of excellence were the measures used to determine the awards for responsibility.

Awards for fifth graders went to Ellie Bowen, Kevin Burgess, Derean Tingook, Brylee Mulroney, Nathan Bartkowski, and Angelina Owen.

Sixth grade awards went to Zane Gilmore, Jenessa Hernandez, Jerome Allen, Brook Blain, Addi Bomberger, and Noah Starr.

Seventh graders Logan Speer, Gracie Schilling, Audrey Hill, Matt Coleman, Keegan Gilk, Ethan Mell, Angeleena Fizia, and Dema Thayer were award recipients.

Eighth grade awards went to Reece Holycross, Leyla Vargas, Wyatt Lemon, J.T. Cahill, and Bodie Phillips.

Educators of the month were Principal Dave Barta and band instructor Danny Schneider.

GDMS honors students and staff once a month throughout the school year with a different theme and guidelines for achieving the award.

October is Respect Month, and winners are honored with a certificate awards assembly at the end of each month.
