Farewell Tom Bryan

January 3, 2018

It is with heavy heart that I report the passing of a lifelong Lyle resident …and dear friend… Tom Bryan Sr. He joined his wife Joyce in heaven at 6 a.m. on Dec. 26. A family member reported to me, “He was having a rough time these past two weeks. He would try to be in good spirits, but his body was giving out.” Tom was a quiet, God-fearing man, with a good sense of humor and love for family and friends. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word and will be truly missed. The family shared; “If anyone wishes to make a donation in Tom Sr.’s memory, they can send a check to: New Hope Farms, P.O. Box 89, Goldendale, WA 98620. On the memo section, they can write: “In Memory of Tom Bryan Sr.”

I would be remiss if I were to forget to remind you that you can enjoy a great breakfast at the First Saturday Lions Breakfast on the 6th from 7 to 10 a.m. It might not be breakfast in bed, but you can give the Mrs. a break and treat her for a change. There is easy access, lots of parking and a great meal waiting. They do put out a great plate—and to your liking. And with those delicious never ending pancakes, how can you go wrong? All of this is waiting in beautiful downtown Lyle.

New Year’s Resolutions all set and ready to go? I know I’ve mentioned it a time or two, but volunteering can be a great start. Every organization needs helpful hands that can lighten the load of veteran volunteers that tire of all the different programs or events they host. Many have fundraisers to survive and always in the need of fresh hands, new ideas and spirit. Sometimes just knowing someone is interested in helping; helps. Give it a thought—what do you have to lose? Just maybe you will find yourself actually enjoying life a little more.

Just from me to you: whatever you have planned, or just like to sit back and wait for life to happen, my hope for you all is to have the very best year ahead. May you all be blessed with long, strong, happy, healthy lives! Do I hear an Amen? If you are living your life with God as your co-pilot, you are going about it all wrong. Give Him the steering wheel and relax. The destination may surprise you with all the joy He can take you to.
