People here rise shoulder-to-shoulder in crisis

This week as I have been perusing the first few months of the 1920 issues of The Goldendale Sentinel, I have been repeatedly impressed with the shoulder-to-shoulder support of the people of Goldendale and Klickitat County when crisis or hardship arises. We have a rich history of overcoming disaster and catastrophe by stepping into the fray. The following are just a few examples in 1920:

In the middle of winter, when Loop Road was in dire need of improvements, the residents near the Youngquist and Chapman properties provided the free workforce to improve the county road in conjunction with the county who provided the crushed rock. (Goldendale Sentinel, Jan 15, 1920 pg 1, col 5).
