Library gets ready to renew

The Goldendale Library in its opening year of 1915.

The Goldendale Community Library will host a community open house on Wednesday, April 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Camplan Community Room at the Goldendale Library to share the plans and details for its upcoming remodel project.

The Goldendale Library first opened its doors to the public on March 2, 1915. The night before, a reception was held. History Link quotes the March 4, 1915 edition of the Goldendale Sentinel:

"The building had been very beautifully decorated for the occasion with festooning of Oregon Grape and potted plants and palms in artistic profusion...a very pleasing feature of the entertainment was rendered by an Edison phonograph kindly loaned for the occasion..."
