Nancy Vader

Nancy Lovina Vader, 62, of Vancouver passed away at her mother's home in Goldendale on March 20, 2018. She was born in The Dalles, Oregon on Dec. 20, 1955 to Evelyn (Smith) and Levi Vader. Nancy was the oldest of four girls and attended the Goldendale High School class of 1974. Nancy settled in Vancouver and began working for the Clark County Sheriffs' Department as a custody officer from 1984 until retiring in May of 2016.

She had many passions but none more important than her grandkids. She loved spending time with them whenever possible. Nancy had a love of Disney that she shared with her granddaughters and brought them close together. Nancy also loved bird watching-especially hummingbirds-and frequently set out feeders to attract them. Nancy also liked travelling and crocheting. She collected rocks from around the city to paint, then hide them in different locations for the Facebook group "Vancouver Rocks." She and her kids would also take these with them when they traveled and leave them among other rocks. Nancy's Vancouver Rocks are now all over the country.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Evelyn Vader of Goldendale; her twin sons, Robert, his wife Alessandra Tamez, their children Alyssa, Natalie and Levi of Chester, Virginia; Ronnie, his wife Jennifer Tamez, and his children Justin and Matthew of Battle Ground, Washington; daughter Cora, her husband Gabe Durrin, and his children Elizabeth and Adrian "AJ" of Vancouver, Washington; step-son, Elias Balentine , step-daughter, Cherry Lou "Cher" Tamez; sisters Susan Klimek of Mililani, Hawaii and Kathy Marshall of Ellensburg, Washington. She is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Vader and her father Levi Vader, both longtime Goldendale residents. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 3 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Camas, Washington. Nancy was laid to rest at Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas.
