Washington Health Benefit Exchange lowers assessment rate

Fee reduced to $3.36 for 2019 health plans sold through the state’s online health marketplace

The Washington Health Benefit Exchange Thursday announced it is lowering its carrier assessment rate by 55 percent, from $7.46 to $3.36 per member per month, on all 2019 health plans purchased through Washington Healthplanfinder—a reduction passed on directly to consumers through lowered premium prices.

The Exchange Board acted to reduce the assessment for carriers offering Qualified Health Plans (QHP) through the state’s online health marketplace during a special meeting.
