One sharpshooter takes aim during last year's county shoot. The finals start Sunday at 9 a.m. at 1925 E Collins.

This weekend, the Goldendale Archery Sharpshooters will be aiming for a trip to state at the annual Klickitat County 4H Archery County Shoot.

The county competition kicks off with a 3D shoot on Saturday in which the archers aim at foam targets of deer, Wolves, and other wildlife, and finishes up with the Federation of International Target Archery finals starting Sunday at 9 a.m.

There will be just under 50 shooters competing over the weekend and will be divided into two divisions based on their age, with the younger group shooting first.

The finals shooting on Sunday will be open to the public. Shooting will end around noon or later and will be followed by an awards ceremony and barbeque at club president Bill Campbell's house at 1925 E Collins.

Last year, the state shoot came to Brooks Park for the first time, but will return to the west side of the state in May. Campbell expects a handful of kids to advance to state, and also believes a few will shoot well enough to reach nationals.
