The Goldendale U16 Gold club volleyball team closed out its season with strong and consistent play during last weekend's Evergreen Region Volleyball Association Regional Tournament at the Spokane Convention Center.

The Goldendale Gold team was placed in the bronze bracket after going 2-2 in Saturday and Sunday morning's pool play games, and went on to capture the bronze bracket championship after going undefeated in bracket play.

"It was a great way to end the season," head coach Jennifer Mitchell said.

The Gold team had to battle back after a tough loss in the first match Saturday morning. They shook off the slow start, winning two of the next three pool play games to reach the bronze bracket, one of five total brackets among the 51-team tournament with teams from around Washington and Idaho.

"We finished better and stronger Saturday afternoon than we started Saturday morning," Mitchell said.

Prior to last weekend's regional tournament, the U16 Gold team won the Pete Bell Memorial Tournament in Spokane on March 4 before reaching the platinum bracket at the Northwest Jamboree in Yakima on March 11.
