Care facility sale approved


A sense of progress was in the air at the Goldendale City Council meeting last night, with trio of positive developments.

First, councilors voted to accept a modified agreement for Goodnoe Development to purchase the former Mt. Adams Care Facility, which had been off the tax rolls since the city received it from Laurel Hill Enterprises back in 2012. Goodnoe had been granted an option to buy the property last March and last night exercised it with modifications. Gene Callon, president of Goodnoe Develpment, explained in a letter to the city that their original plan to remove the asbestos and remodel the facility to bring it up to code would cost the company an estimated $2.8 million.
