Many high finishes for GHS Rodeo Club members over the weekend

Cassie Kayser competed in the barrel racing event on Sunday, finishing ninth out of 48 qualifying riders with an 18.252 second finishing time.

Many local kids competing for the Goldendale High School Rodeo Club enjoyed success over the weekend in the lone home rodeo this season.

Starting Saturday and ending Sunday, many of the cowboys and cowgirls added points to their season totals with top 10 finishes while a few also came away with top marks in specific events.

Lane Siebert competed in two different events over both days, capturing first place on Saturday in the tie down roping event in 11.28 seconds and earning 10 points. He picked up another point with a 10th place mark during the team roping on Sunday, partnering with Grady Adams for a 27.83 second time.

Along with Siebert, Dusty Dodge came away with a top finish on Sunday in the bareback, his only event. He shook off a tough fall into the siding and garnered a score of 61 with the ride to tie him for the lead with RyLee Heath, both taking 9.5 points.

Justin Slater partnered up with Chantz Popelier for the team roping, and after not recording a time on Saturday, the two took second in the event on Sunday in 10.56 seconds. Slater also posted a ninth place mark in the tie down roping on Sunday with a 29.38 second time.

Dusty Dodge loses his hat while holding on during the bareback on Sunday. He tied for first in the event with a final score of 61.

Curtis Kayser and Lance Mills combined to finish third in the team roping on Saturday in 12.36 seconds and weren't able to record a time Sunday. Kayser also added a fourth place mark in the tie down roping on Sunday in 14.23 seconds.

On the girls side, Cassie Kayser had a strong showing in a variety of events. She notched top five finishes in the goat tying on Saturday and Sunday, finishing fourth in 8.6 seconds on Saturday and fifth in 9.1 seconds on Sunday.

She added a third place finish with a quick showing in the breakaway roping Sunday at 3.82 seconds and also placed ninth out of 48 qualifiers in the barrel racing on Sunday at 18.252 seconds.

Courtney Tatro placed both on Saturday and Sunday in the breakaway roping with a fourth place (4.15 seconds) finish on Saturday before taking ninth (4.34 seconds) on Sunday.

Next up for the club is this weekend's state finals which starts Friday at Kennewick.
