KCSO investigates sunken stolen car

SUNK AND STOLEN: A car fished out of Rowland Lake was determined to be stolen, and the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

On May 27, during a underwater training operation in Rowland Lake, members of the Skamania County Dive Rescue / Recovery Team located a submerged vehicle in 22 feet of water. Divers were able to retrieved vehicle information and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen. Klickitat County Sheriff's deputies, along with a tow company out of Goldendale, responded to assist. The vehicle was removed from the water without incident. Klickitat County officials are investigating.

Officials remind recreationalists that the water temperatures are still very cold and to use extreme caution while exploring Gorge waters. Life jackets are recommended year round.
