Stay fire safe

Keep it safe during this dry, summer season, with fireworks and anything that can cause fires. The Goldendale Fire Department asks for everyone to keep their automobile on the trail and keep it off the dry grasses, as car exhaust systems light up grass fires well after you have driven away.

I had a neat experience last week at the library. They have classes one day a month, on the fourth Thursday, on your computer or internet. I had my beginner class on putting my photos in the Cloud. They worked with me and didn't make me feel stupid, and I feel much more confident about what I am doing now. I had a class a couple years ago on moving my photos from one place to another, but I didn't know that there was a monthly class all this time. If you need a 30-minute class, give them a call to set up an appointment time at 773-4487.

Do you have food waste or scraps? Klickitat County is now offering a residential food waste drop site at the Goldendale Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ekone Park. Stop by with your kitchen scraps, up to four gallons, and take home a flyer with information on the how and what of collecting food waste for composting. The food waste is then taken down to Dirthuggers in Dallesport. The program is funded through a grant provided by the Washington State Department of Ecology, which allows this program to be offered at no cost to residents. This is a pilot program and may change at any time. The Klickitat County Solid Waste Dept. will do their best to notify residents in advance of any changes that may affect participation. They look forward to seeing you there!

See you this weekend at the Goldendale Community Days July 6, 7, 8.
