Goldendale Observatory program visitors at Stonehenge were greeted with a striking conjunction of planet Venus and the Moon setting behind wind turbines on Sunday evening, July 15.

Observatory Administrator Troy Carpenter says, "I want everyone to know that this is a 'Summer of planets,' with Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars all appearing from west to east in that order until October 2018. Mars will be at opposition at the end of this month, and we'll be doing special hours at our temporary Stonehenge campus from July 27 to 29, remaining open until 2 a.m. Also, we're doing special hours on Sunday, Aug. 12 (and into morning of the 13th) for the Perseid meteor shower, which will be free of...
