Flat track racing returns to Eddieville on Sunday

Jaryd Cline

Head out to the Eddieville Speedway this weekend for the second installment of this summer's Flat Track Motorcycle Series, where riders of all ages and skill levels will be racing at one of the most unique courses around.

Eddieville, which is the only full half-mile track in the Pacific Northwest, is hosting the series for the second straight year. The first flat track race in Goldendale in quite a while was held during last year's Festival of Wheels, and the event drew enough interest to bring it back for a second year.

After just the one race last year, flat track races returned to Goldendale as part of an eight-race northwest series with races at Eddieville, Spokane, Ranier, Castle Rock, and Canada.

Three races of the eight-race northwest series take place at Eddieville, with the first running back on April 29. Sunday's race will be the second, and the third race at Eddieville will run on Aug. 19.

A day before the last race on Aug. 19 there will be a 'secrets of speed' performance coaching school at Eddieville.

Practice runs for the races start at 10 a.m., with the main performances starting at noon.

For more information about the flat track races or the 'secrets of speed' performance coaching school, call 509-314-5230. Questions about camping also can be directed to the previously mentioned phone number.

The Eddieville Speedway is located in Centerville at 110 Stringstreet Road.
